Martin Brodeur Center
In 1994, the "Loisirs de St-Liboire Inc." honored Martin Brodeur for his excellent performances that led him to win the rookie of the year trophy in the National Hockey League for the 1993/94 season by naming the building occupied by the Loisirs as the MARTIN BRODEUR CENTRE. One year later in 1995, Martin Brodeur, the NewJersey Devils goaltender, brought his first Stanley Cup on site. During the same year, a fundraising campaign has been established and, every summer, a golf tournament is organised by the Board of Directors of the "Loisirs de St-Liboire Inc." for the benefit of the MARTIN BRODEUR CENTRE. To this date, the first 13 editions have allowed together more than $300,000. All this money was used exclusively to give the MARTIN BRODEUR CENTRE adequate sports structures to practice various sports. Many young athletes from St-Liboire benefitted from these facilities and were able to perform in their various disciplines on the Quebec as well as the Canadian scene. In addition, many sponsors have joined the MARTINBRODEUR CENTRE thus allowing, until 2008, investments of well over $750,000 in new facilities such as two synthetic tennis courts, a basketball court, a baseball diamond, a lighted soccer field, a covered multi-use skating rink, children apparatus and watergames. Today, the MARTIN BRODEUR CENTRE, which is located at 30 Place Mauriac, is the pride of St-Liboire's residents. St-Liboire is situated on Autoroute Jean-Lesage (Autoroute 20) at Exit 145 between St-Hyacintheand Drummondville. Hoping the MARTINBRODEUR CENTRE will always maintain the high standards its name suggests!
